W—Writing & thinking

What is space, actually — and what does it mean for something to be real to a person standing inside it? Physics and philosophy put the question in front of me; architecture is where it has to be answered in stone, timber and light. The dissertation held both at once: visibility graph analysis and axial mapping against phenomenological fieldwork across three Dubai sites, reading Pallasmaa, Zumthor, Merleau-Ponty, Norberg-Schulz and Bachelard against what I actually measured. Nominated for the RIBA Architecture Today Prize.
